Africa’s ‘greenest’ luxury camp!

Overlooking the floodplains of Zibadianji Lagoon in the far eastern sector of the Selinda Reserve, under ancient Jackalberry and Red Ivory forests.

This ‘Premier’ quality camp has four large, luxuriously appointed tents under flowing canvas, each with their own private pool. The camp accommodates a maximum of eight guests, perfect for the private group. Each tent and veranda is expansive (9m x 17m), comprising of a spacious bedroom, and an en-suite bathroom with flush facilities, a copper bath and indoor shower as well as an outdoor shower. Hot water is available 24 hours a day from the solar heating system. Each guest tent has its own comfortable lounge opening onto the shady veranda with spectacular views.

Continuing the style of the accommodation, the main area is all under canvas with an emphasis on the view and the wildlife sightings. The lounge and dining facilities may be enjoyed under cover or out on the shaded deck under giant broadleaf trees.

The camp has its own ‘jungle’ gym for exercise enthusiasts.

As the camp is so small, there are no set meal times. All meals are table d’hote and include a light breakfast at dawn, a hearty brunch on return from morning activity, afternoon tea and snacks before the afternoon activity, rounded off with a three course dinner in the evening. Special meals and dietary requirements are catered for on request.

There is a small boutique curio shop stocking locally made goods and quality African artifacts.

Activities:
Wildlife drives are the primary activity and are conducted in new, open Toyota Land Cruisers with removable canvas canopies which are run on a ‘bio-type’ fuel.

There is no set routine at Zarafa and the reserve is generally explored in the early morning, late afternoon and at night when wildlife is most active. During the mid-day siesta it is best to be in the camp enjoying the passing wildlife spectacle.

Short or full morning walks can be arranged and are led by licensed, armed guides.
