Temperatures range from a minimum of 14 degrees Celsius to a maximum of 35 degrees Celsius.
Cape region: Ideal for golf and sight seeing. Can be windy.
Mpumalanga: Good for safari but tends to be very hot with afternoon showers.

   
Winter May - September
Temperatures range from a minimum of 9 degrees Celsius to a maximum of 29 degrees Celsius.
Cape region: Experiences high rainfall in the second half of the winter season. Not ideal for golf due to unexpected weather changes.
Mpumalanga: Ideal for safari and golf as mid-day temperatures are moderate.
   
Botswana  
Summer

November - March
Temperatures range from a minimum of 17 degrees Celsius to a maximum of 36 degrees Celsius.
Summer usually has very high temperatures and is also the rainy season, which can cool things down for a short period at a time.

   
Winter Winter: June - August
Temperatures range from a minimum of 5 degrees Celsius to a maximum of 28 degrees Celsius.
This is the dry season where virtually no rainfall occurs. Days are invariably sunny and cool to warm. Evening temperatures can drop below freezing point in some areas.
   
Mid-season April/May and September/October
Tends to be dry; days are cooler than in summer and nights are warmer than in winter.

Visas

Travelers from USA, Japan, Scandinavia, Western Europe and Commonwealth countries; do not need to formally apply for a visa. Upon arriving in South Africa, travelers from these countries will automatically be given a free entry permit sticker that outlines how long they may remain in the country. This automatic entry permit is usually for 90 days, though the immigration officer may tailor the time period according to the airline tickets held.

Tax on Goods Bought Value Added Tax (VAT) is levied on most goods and services.
As a foreign national you may reclaim VAT on anything bought for over R250 unused.
You need to do this at the airport before you embark on your flight home.

You will have to produce the original tax invoice for the item.
